A new epigenetic mechanism was discovered in the ISFH laboratory, but its relevance outside the laboratory was unknown. The experiment revealed epigenetic information maintained in microcosms that mimicked biotic and abiotic field conditions. However, temperature affected the expression of epigenetic variants.
